• What are Quests?
A Quest is a challenge to visit a collection of related places. We refer to those places as Quest Points. For example, one Quest is to visit all of England's medieval cathedrals.
  • What do I do to complete a Quest?
You just have to visit - 'bag' - all of its Quest Points. The bigger Quests have intermediate rewards for bagging, say, half the Quest Points.
  • What is my reward for completing a Quest?
When you complete a Quest you will receive a title and, sometimes, a certificate.
  • Where do I need to go?
The Quest Tracker app has a list of Quests, each with a list of Quest Points. To see the Quest Points for a particular Quest, tap the Quest on the Home screen, then swipe left. Alternatively, a list of 20 nearby Quest Points from any Quest can be obtained by tapping the 'Nearby Quest Points' item on the Options menu. By default, these are the Quest Points nearest your device. A list of nearby Quest Points near somewhere else can be obtained by setting a Temporary Origin on the Options menu.
  • How do I bag a Quest Point?
Quest Tracker has a description of where to go to bag each Quest Point. The Tracker (compass) screen must be open to bag a Quest Point. It has a display showing the Quest Point's distance from the device. The Quest Point should be bagged automatically when it is within 20m of the Quest Point.
  • The Quest I want to do is not there?
The initial Quests are those that we have done through our blogs and hobbies. We are happy to consider any suggestion for new Quests or additional Quest Points. We are especially keen to hear suggestions for new church Quests and new church Quest Points because we originally created Quest Tracker to encourage people to visit churches.
  • How does the app work?
Quest Tracker knows the GPS coordinates of every Quest Point and it uses GPS on your device to see if you are nearby. This means that a device can only bag a Quest Point if it has fairly accurate GPS and that the app is enabled to use the device location.
  • What happens if my GPS is inaccurate?
If your device shows the Quest Point being somewhere near where it is supposed to be and it is accessible, just go there to bag the Quest Point. It would be useful if you dropped a pin at the real Quest Point, just in case we made a mistake when we added the Quest Point coordinates to our database. If your device shows the Quest Point being somewhere far away or somewhere inaccessible, drop a pin at the real Quest Point and send the details to us. We can manually bag the Quest Point for you.
  • What happens if there is no network at a Quest Point?
Quest Tracker should work without a network, although maps, routes and geolocation will not. If you bag a Quest Point or drop a pin somewhere that does not have a network connection, you should get a message saying that registration has been deferred. The details have been stored on your device. The bag or pin drop will be registered as soon as your device re-establishes a network connection.
  • What happens if I lose or break my phone?
You can use Quest Tracker on as many devices as you like. If one breaks, you can use another. When it first logs into our server, it will download your data to your new device. If your old device had unregistered bags or unregistered pin drops, they will be lost.
  • Can two or more accounts use Quest Tracker on the same phone?
Quest Tracker keeps account credentials and other data in local storage. The only way to use a different account is to clear local storage and log in with different credentials. While this is possible, it is not recommended, it is deliberately inconvenient, and we may prevent it in future.
  • What happens if my phone is not working when I am at the Quest Point?
You can only bag a Quest Point when you have the Tracker screen in the foreground, which means that you must have a working phone. If your phone is not working when you are at a Quest Point and someone else is with you, they can drop a pin at the Quest Point with your registered email address. If you contact us and explain the problem, we will sometimes manually bag the Quest Point for you.
  • Will Quest Tracker work on my phone?
Probably. We do not guarantee that Quest Tracker will work on all (or, indeed, any) mobile devices, but it works on all those that we know of. Your device must fulfil our minimum specification of 1gb memory, and iOS 10+ or Android 5+. If your device does fulfil this minimum specification and Quest Tracker does not work, please contact us with your device make, model and OS version. We will investigate, although it may take an indefinite time and we may decide not to do anything.
  • How much does Quest Tracker cost?
    Nothing, it is completely free.
